In SANDMAN #24 (1991) Neil Gaiman introduced some "new" characters. He spent the first five pages retelling one of the few Loki myths from the Eddas that Lee/Kirby hadn't homaged in THOR. This is followed by two pages of Gaiman's version of Marvel's Nightmare keeping the readers in suspense with sparse enigmatic dialog.
Finally on page eight Gaiman's script calls for the impressive art team of Kelly Jones and P. Craig Russell to visualize DC comic's third version of Thor in 49 years and second version of Loki in 34 years.
With art this nice who cares what is written in the word balloons.
