HAPPY 94th BIRTHDAY TO STAN *MAESTRO OF THE MARVEL MULTIVERSE* LEE

"Lee's dialogue was witty and filled with character. Place it over exciting visual storytelling by Kirby or Ditko and you had something very special."

IT'S EASY TO SPOT A HERO

He's the one running in the opposite direction of a panicked crowd.

For Malekith's first cover appearance Walt Simonson employs primal symbolism: big = threatening.

"I did a lot of work in my run on Thor, such as the "Malekith the Accursed" story, that had some basis in and inspiration from Celtic fairy and folk tales. I read quite a bit when I was doing Thor-not only in Norse mythology, but about the Celtic fairy-faith and a lot of northern European folk stories, out of Britain, Scandinavia, Northern Europe. Great stuff and it was strongly related to the kind of feeling I wanted to give the book."

A Kirby Thor page not worth reprinting?!?

Good enough for THOR #148 (1968) but not good enough for the reprint of the story in MARVEL SPECTACULAR #19 (1975).
