ON THE SPINNER RACKS Apr/May 1964

JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #105 was the first issue completely penciled by Jack Kirby and the first to expand the lead Thor story from 13 to 18 pages.

Counting the first 5 issues of the AVENGERS, this was Thor's 28th appearance.

The 18 page lead story had a guest appearance by the Avengers in their sparse headquarters.

The 6th Tales Of Asgard back-up was a 5-pager spotlighting Heimdall, his 7th appearance.

It was also the second Tales of Asgard episode to begin with a splash page followed by 4 pages of 4 equal-sized panels.

ON THE SPINNER RACKS Apr/May 1963

Thor's 11th appearance in JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY introduced Radioactive Man, a Stan Lee-Robert Bernstein-Jack Kirby creation. Dick Ayers embellished the 13 page story and Kirby cover.

Radioactive Man would appear in 4 issues of the AVENGERS over the next 6 years.
