Although Thor appears on 10 of the 20 Kirby/Colletta pages, he does not appear on the only splash page. Loki gets that honor!
Surtur's 7th appearance since his debut 7 years earlier in JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY #97. He wouldn't appear again until 12 years later in THOR #324.
Vinnie's inks were detailed and illustrative. That cover was inked by someone else.
ReplyDeleteI looked in the Kirby Estate authorized Checklist and you are right. Not sure how the mistake was made but thanks both for dropping by, being a fellow Colletta fan and for keeping the blog honest.
