As with many issues the story begins with a dynamic Jack Kirby splash and a Stan Lee recap.

The only other Kirby/Colletta splash treats us to the Circus of Crime and naïve Thor.

PLUS: Jane Foster is in the circus crowd and makes a one panel cameo. Her 50th appearance. Her previous appearance was in THOR #136.

The 16 page story has a cliffhanger.

Thor does not appear in the debut episode of the 5 page Lee/Kirby TALES OF ASGARD replacement.

How much could Lee/Kirby squeeze into 4 panels?

We get a glimpse of the Valhalla ceremonial chamber, Loki being Loki, Balder in a suit and a variation on traveling from Asgard to Midgard - for when the Rainbow Bridge is just too slow!

Plenty of differences between this Thor and the Marvel one. Possibly the most interesting was having thunderstorms trigger the mortal-to-Thor transformation. The cover is the work of Curt Swan and Stan Kaye.
